The Only Way I Like Caillou

So, Avee has these sporadic yet torrid affairs with Caillou. She can go weeks, even months without a thought of him. And then she'll watch a dvd of him for 4 days straight, over and over again.

What? Oh, I mean she'll watch a bit, when we let her watch briefly between her Latin lessons and Croquet classes until she finishes eating her organic vegetable pâté.

Either way, it is obvious that she likes her "men" bald and whiny.

This morning she was asking to watch, while sitting on top of the kitchen table, er, I mean...oh forget it, I can't keep up the pretenses anymore.

Bo, playing Zelda thought he'd instead just serenade her with his rendition of the Calliou theme song.

It was totally worth it.

"I'm just a boy who's fo, each day I'm lohning mo' I'm Calliou, Caaiiillouu, Caillou---
Gwowing up is not so tough, sucks when I've had enough, I'm Calliou, Caaiiillouu, Caillou that's me!"

Methinks there's something subliminal in there.
The Caillou Watchers
Danyo busts me

What it looked like on the other side of the picture. So proud. So proud.

I now have Caillou in my head. It took 5 years to get rid of it, my deepest, most sincere thanks.

ah! sucks when i've had enough. i hate the crap out of caillou. thank goodness we don't have a dvd. it's bad enough when i accidentally turn it to pbs when it's on.
what is up with that kid's head? just once i'd like to see his mom break out a hickory switch when he starts whining...

Third!!!
We just finished watching Caillou....and I want to strangle myself. He is so whiny... I wonder if that is where my kids are getting it from. I had to laugh at Bo...HIlarious!

Yeah, well who taught them to pick their nose? That's what I'd like to know. Who'd that behavior come from?

I am so glad my kids are over Caillou! I cannot see how a show about a kid that does nothing but whine is considered educational? I did however like that the mom was not stick thin, she has no waist line.
Anyway - My husband came up with a similar "theme song" for Caillou. He stopped singing it when the kids repeated it.
Bo is sooo smart! and I love the last picture! Totally made me laugh out loud!!

I had an alzheimer patient that LOVED her Caillou doll which sang that song. Yeah about the nose picking .....two's company three's a crowd:)

I LOVE Ben's lyrics. :) I'm going to always hear it that way now. At least there will be one positive part of having Caillou on every day. Miranda & Natalie love him too. It really bothers me that he never grows any hair. And I don't like the narrator's kindly voice when he's being a total brat. Ugh. Thanks for sharing. Your kids are awesome. :)

I really have to limit Glitter's consumption of Caillou episodes. Her whining increases exponentially when she watches it between her physics lab and French lessons.

I can't tell Caillou's mom from his dad unless they're side by side. If it isn't, her name should be Pat

Luckily my kids were growing out of those shows when Cailou was getting started. We watched a few times and just like Bo, I had my own version of that song that included something about Cailou being a rotten kid because OMGosh I can't stand him!

The nose picking is great, but look at that obstacle course runner/goer/whatever in the background! Awesome!

Loved your post cutie!

Olympic Nose Picking Gold Medalists!

JK. Your kiddos are cute.

Never had to endure Caillou. Thank Heaven. The Teletubbies were bad enough. Oh and let us not forget Barney!

for those of you who have Caillou stuck in your head I offer a remedy--
"This is the song that never ends. It goes on and on my friend . . ." Yeah, I used to sing that while washing dishes by hand. By hand, I tell you.

You Are Welcome ;)

So did Bo & Avee find what they were fishing for?

Caillou drives me bonkers. Thank goodness we haven't seen him on PBS for a while. Ugh.

I don't think any of my kids have watched "Caillou" but I've heard nothing but annoying things, so that's good.
Livie and Bo can pick noses together.

I told G-Dog to stop picking his nose the other day and he brilliantly observed, "But Mommy, how else will I get my boogers out?"

Well said, son. That must be what I'm thinking every time I pick mine, too.

If you asked my kids about Caillou, they would say, "Cai who?" They have also never seen Barney or Teletubbies and I've considered putting the parental lock on Yo Gabba Gabba. If I have to be a sane person, I canNOT let my children consume these shows. I'm much more partial to The Backyardigans. Oh, yeah, give me a little multicultural-what-the-heck-kind-of-animal-is-she Uniqua any day!

PS I'm working on my hijacking problem. I think I'll have to start limiting my words-per-comment. Sorry.

The day anyone in Iowa offers croquet lessons, I'm moving there. Not to take the lessons, but just to be in the Iowa caucus.

I like Caillou with plenty of ketchup.

Bo's getting some sass, huh? VERY funny theme song alteration.

I haven't seen Calilou in forever. My kids don't watch but I used to baby sit kids that did. You certainly made me smile.

oh grr, i despise caillou. he is on the top of the very long list of kids shows i despise. so whiney and bratty and doesn't say please and thank you. i'm with sarah..i have the urge to wack him upside the head.

I can't stand Caillou! Bleh!

But Bo makes it MUCH better! ;)

i also had forgotten about caillou and his ability to teach children that being whiny and difficult is the right thing to do...

really I just have issues with anyone that would name a kid caillou.

My sam is a terrible nose picker. It's best when he does it in church. When we're sitting in the front row. And the branch president is looking at us. And smiling. Because my child has his finger up my nose.

I miss you. that's all.

Jenny P. said...

oh, and the sucks when I've had enough... that's totally hilarious.

Sketchy said...

Wait. Are you saying there are no latin lessons? And croquet? What has happenned to the croquet?

Someone please go rescue the Nobos from their croquetless existance. Think of the children!

It sucks when I've had enough too.

Um, if there were no Caillou, how could we all learn to be proper helicopter parents?

And I'm sure that was just a nose itch. Right?

And I love Danyo's antics behind the scenes. I'll take chair climbing any day over Caillou.

For the longest time I thought I was the only parent who didn't like Caillou! Drives me crazy! So I am not the only annoyed mother who cann't stand it when my kids whine and wants to break the tv when there is a kid on it who whines!!!
The nose picking. Major stage here, too. So much joy! Expecially in the double pick!
