Bo is only required to learn to write the three letter version of his name. I found this paper in his school bag, he's being a hotshot and spelled his name phoenetically.
The funniest part for me was, it was written this way on the page where he is learning to write the letter "J".

Tom always wanted to name a boy Benjamin, to which I would always warn him that I would probably shorten it to Benji and if he was OK with that, then fine. I wonder if he would have been OK with it if I'd have told him he could be BenG.
My oldest (A--) used to separate his first name into two different names. He was insistent that his first name in its entirety consisted only of his shortened name.
