A moment of silence

I've had a really good friend staying with me for the past few weeks and we have spent every spare moment together.

When I first joined the Y and used the cardio room, I was thrilled when I realized I would have a friend with me while I worked out. That just makes the time go by so much faster.

And when I am sitting on the couch, with a zillion other things I should be doing, but have to feed Danyo, I had a friend to keep me company and I LOVED it.

I looked forward to evenings after the kids had gone to bed, just to spend time together and get to know each other better. I would go through most of my day, just keeping my eye on the prize, knowing when the daily duties were taken care of, I could hang out and enjoy some grown-up time.

The other day, I am so embarrassed, but I had dropped off J at the doctor, gotten Bo from school, run to the grocery store and then taken to the kids to the park and then left the park without my friend. I was SO embarrassed, but I went back and got him, and we were still friends.

Until last night.

He told me we are through.

I am SO sad, bereft even. I feel so lonely without his companionship.

Last night after I feel asleep, I dreamt about him most of the night. And going through out the day, I've just felt a void.

You probably think it's weird that I've gotten so involved with this friend when I have three kids and a husband. It might be a little weird, but he and J get along quite well. In fact, he was J's friend before he was mine.

I don't know how to get him back. I don't even know if it's possible.

I finished Harry Potter 7 yesterday.

my family hates it when i'm reading a good book because i essentially become a nonperson. All I do is read. Good book, wasn't it?

I don't do Potter. Nope not a fan. I'm glad you finished it, though! I am also glad I'm not the only one who celebrates talk like a pirate day!

I feel your pain...the only thing that helps is time! Seriously - it was so hard to say good bye to him. Let me know when you find another good read; I'm having a hard time. Loved the preschool pics!

I was gettin' all envious of whoever was staying with you, and then irritated because I've been feeling all concerned for you, just moving and having three little kids and all (except for knowing that J is home a lot more) and then to find out my concern was unnecessary and my envy was totally unwarranted. Because I'm not as entertaining as Harry Potter, but I am cuter.

I haven't read any of the Harry Potter books. I know, I know I need to get on it...But this post is so accurate - a good book can really keep me functioning on a fairly decent level most days.

I can't believe he was still at the park when you went back for him, with everyone dying to get their hands on him, too!

Joeli is crazy hooked on the vampire series - and so are a bunch of other people I know, people who are so not the vampire-loving type. I guess they're as good as HP. You should check it out.

OK, yeah - "the vampire series" - figure that one out without further explanation:) First book is Twilight, by Stephanie Meyer. The author is Mormon I guess and has already topped J.K. Rowling in sales...But you might already know all this - I'm a little behind the curve.

Very, very funny. And yes, hit the Stephanie Meyers books, Edward and Jacob will help, and she's not finished with the series yet. Three books and counting.

I have to admit, I was a little bereft when I finished too.

oh my- I've been going to bed with Harry for about 3 months now. I read books 1-6 all summer so I could prepare for 7. Shane has missed me. I finished 7 a week ago and haven't known what to do with my nights since.

At first I thought you were talking about your "monthly friend." I finally figured out that couldn't be right by the time I made it to the point where you said it was J's friend first! LOL! :D
